The original “hook” diagram by the author, Nir.

Hooked, Nir Eyal

Step 1. Trigger (external)

External should lead to internal trigger via below path

Step 2. Action

Alternative or supplementary thoughts by BJ Fogg’s:
B=M+A+T or Behaviour = Motivation + Ability + Trigger

Fogg’s diagram

Wendel formed this funnel which combines Step 1 and 2 together.

Wendel’s CREATE funnel

Step 3. Variable reward (don’t know what to expect)

Types:
- Tribe (status, belonging, acceptance)
- Hunt (seeking resources)
- Self (mastery, competency)

Step 4. Own investment of time will generate the reward

-> Step 5. Repeat

ProTip: 40% of things we do are subconscious or habits. Your job as a PM to form and nurture this habit.
Use the CREATE funnel (above) to come up with good story ideas.
